No Apologies

A second chance at love– or heartbreak?

Angela Davenport is successful in business but a failure at love. Jeff Maxwell left her broken-hearted and resolved to never make that mistake again. Now Jeff is back, determined to win Angela’s forgiveness and hopefully her heart.

Jeff’s entire life is built on responsibility and deep family ties. He knows he ruined his shot with Angela, but he’ll do whatever it takes to get another chance—especially now that Angela’s got a little one to take care of.

Can Jeff convince Angela that what he feels is love, not responsibility, or will past mistakes get in the way of their future?

She was out of her freaking mind.

No other explanation fit. There was no other reason for her to be running about the house, tidying her office, taking out the trash, removing pantyhose from the shower bar in her bathroom. When she found herself reaching for fresh linens for her bed, she had to force herself to take Kayleigh, march down the hall to her office, and sit at her desk.

What was she thinking?

She wasn’t, and that was the problem. Her system was still in shock over Jeff’s miraculous reappearance. Having to work with him for the next month. Hearing his request for forgiveness.

Thinking that Kayleigh was his, and asking to get married.

Better correct yourself, she thought, booting up the computer. It was more like assuming Kayleigh was theirs and demanding that she marry him. Of course, she noticed how quick that demand was forgotten when she proved Kayleigh’s parentage. That was all right with her. She had no intention of marrying Jeff Maxwell, not now, not ever.

Oh yeah? Is that why you were putting clean sheets on the bed?

God, she hated that voice. That voice, the purry, hungry voice, was responsible for yielding to Jeff in the first place. That voice was responsible for the year of borrowed bliss she’d had—and the year of heartache that followed. No, if she listened to that voice, she would welcome Jeff back with open arms—and legs. There was no way in hell she planned to do that.
